.After the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Gilgamesh achieved a significant portion of its objectives since its establishment in 2022 with a single department, namely Business Administration, the College Deanship sought to implement its planned development and expansion strategy. As a result, the Department of Accounting was established in the academic year 2024–2025 for morning studies. The department admits students holding the secondary school certificate from its various streams, including the scientific branches (applied and biological), as well as the literary and commercial streams (Commercial Secondary School – General and Accounting). The duration of study in the department is four years, during which students are prepared and qualified both theoretically and practically through a curriculum that includes a wide range of specialized accounting courses, in addition to supporting courses from other related disciplines. These courses aim to provide students with comprehensive academic and professional preparation that enables them to meet job market requirements after graduation. There is a high demand from students to enroll in the department’s academic program due to the significant role of the accounting specialization in providing students with accounting, financial, banking, and economic knowledge. This equips graduates with the skills necessary to practice the accounting profession efficiently and effectively, in line with the needs of the labor market and the requirements of a continuously evolving professional environment.
